Southeastern North Carolina is a region often lacking in STEM programs for middle and high school students. We believe that this region is often overlooked as a source of college bound engineers and scientists. Port City Robotics (PCR) seeks to facilitate STEM education in this region and ultimately increase the number of young people entering science and technology careers.
Pathway to Impact:
PCR provides financial, administrative and logistical support to local robotics teams for middle and high-school students. These robotics teams are after-school programs offering lectures, group discussions, hands-on skills in robotic design and building.
PCR seeks to identify leaders in the community who are willing and capable of providing coaching or mentoring for students. Additionally, we identify volunteers (mostly parents and family of students) who become very active in the community both fundraising and providing supervision and support.
